Where To Shop: Charleston
Updated: Mar 4, 2021
Hi Friends!
The other day on Instagram I did a poll of what you guys were interested in seeing a blog post on and so many of you said Where to Shop in Charleston. Luckily for y'all, I'm a shopaholic. This is a list, in no particular order, of my favorite local stores in the Charleston area. Hopefully you guys can check them out!
SOMETHING ABOUT ME
522 King Street, Charleston

This dreamy little boutique just opened up on King Street, and I am obsessed. I met the owner, Emily Huesca, years ago while working at Las Olas and have always loved her unique and sophisticated sense of style. Needless to say, she picks out the best items for her store. They carry great brands such as Fame and Partners, For Love & Lemons, Hudson Jeans, WEWOREWHAT, etc. You can shop Something About Me in person while their website is in the works.
LAS OLAS
441 King Street, Charleston

As my former employer, I can confidently tell you that this is one of my most frequented and favorite locally owned stores. There are multiple locations in the Charleston area, and Las Olas has even recently opened a new storefront on the West Coast in Newport Beach, CA! This is a go-to shop for designer swim and beachwear for both men and women. Recently I have noticed they have upped their clothing game as well, including some of my favorite brands like Amuse Society and Faithfull the Brand. Shop Las Olas in person or online here.
HAMPDEN CLOTHING
314 King Street, Charleston

While the address listed is the primary storefront for Hampden Clothing, there are three more retail spaces, all located on Charleston's famous King Street, that are expansions of the high-end boutique. JAMES, located right next door, is probably my favorite section of the store. There you can find shoe and handbag designer items from Golden Goose, Isabel Marant, Lizzie Fortunato, and many more. I also recommend checking out their sister store, located five stores down, SMALL. There you can find designer items that are more affordable and appropriate for everyday life. SMALL includes some of my favorite brands, including LoveShackFancy, Ulla Johnson, and Ganni. Shop the Hampden Clothing stores in person or online here.
RED ROSE VINTAGE SHOP
424 King Street, Charleston

It doesn't get much cooler than this!!! Red Rose sells vintage pieces out of the adorably renovated airstream pictured, curated by owner Amy Rose. Because it is a pop-up shop, you need to keep up with their Instagram (@redrosevintageshop) to make sure you catch them when and where they are open. Recently they have been popping up on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the address listed above. Probably half of my denim shorts collection is from Red Rose, not exaggerating. They have the absolute best selection of authentic vintage pieces I have ever seen. Check it out for yourself in person or online here.
OUT OF HAND
113 Pitt Street, Mount Pleasant

I actually just bought my mom's Christmas present from here and this cute lil' top for myself (pictured). OOH is a fabulous store located in the heart of the Old Village featuring gorgeous clothes, homeware & gifts, jewelry, and so much more! I love the spirit of OOH, and I definitely recommend shopping here whether you're a local or just visiting. Shop in person or online here.
PARROT SURF & SKATE
811 Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant

Happy Holidays from Parrot! I mean, wow, you can not miss this incredible mural painted by @jazzyjordanart on the front of the locally-owned surf and skate shop. Pretty much the one-stop-shop for my boyfriend, stepdad, and brother's wishlists. Not only does the store have the best selection of surf and skateboard accessories, but they also have killer clothes for both men and women. Visit this Mount Pleasant staple in person or online here.
GOLDBUG
2205-E Middle Street, Sullivans Island

Located directly under one of my favorite restaurants, Mex 1 on beautiful Sullivans Island, sits this fabulous little boutique that I definitely recommend popping into. There you can find hand-crafted jewelry as well as "trinkets and treasures" curated by owner and designer Ashley Reid Martin, who happens to be a SCAD alum! (woohoo, go SCAD!) I bought a set of rings from here for my junior year prom, and I still love and wear them today. Shop Goldbug in person or online here.
STYLE EXCHANGE
525 King Street, Charleston

This picture is such a throwback butttt that should just show you all how much I love this store and how long I have been shopping here. I would definitely say that SXC is the trendiest store in Charleston. They have one location Downtown (address listed) and one in Mount Pleasant (pictured). Whether you are shopping for a formal affair or just an everyday pair of jeans, they've got you covered. Shop Style Exchange in person while their website is under construction.
CELADON
1015 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, Mount Pleasant

As an interior designer's daughter, I definitely have a special spot in my heart for home design, which is why Celadon makes the list as one of my favorite stores in Charleston. The great thing about Celadon is that they don't only sell incredible furniture and home accessories but also jewelry, candles, and the absolute CUTEST cards. I took this picture the other day while holiday shopping with my mom because omg, what! How dang cute are those stockings!? Shop Celadon in person or online here.
CITRINE COLLECTIVE
405 W Coleman Blvd, B, Mount Pleasant

I haven't been into Citrine's new store yet, but I love the brand and was a big fan of their previous store, Drift. Citrine Collective is comprised of Citrine Swim, Teza Collection, and Gully Kids, all of which produce beautiful items for you to explore! Check them out in person or online here.
SHADES OF CHARLESTON
233 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mount Pleasant

They've got Ray-Bans, they've got Costas. You need sunglasses? You've come to the right place. Locals know that Shades is the best place to buy eyewear in the low country. There are two locations in the Charleston area, one in Mount Pleasant (listed) and one on Sullivans Island (right next to Goldbug!) Shop in person or online here.
GWYNN'S
916 Houston Northcutt Blvd, Mount Pleasant

The only luxury department store in the Charleston area. Here you can find high fashion pieces from designer brands such as Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford, Gucci, and so many more. Gwynn's has you covered for clothes, jewelry, shoes, bags, beauty products, home items, and gifts. I mean, come on, it's like Disney world for fashion lovers. Shoutout to my fellow fashion-loving friend Maya for the gorgeous shoe pic. Shop Gwynns in person or online here.
---- I hope this guide helps you with all your future shopping endeavors. Supporting local businesses is so important to me, and luckily in Charleston, we have so many fantastic stores to choose from. If you have any recommendations of your own, please comment and let me know! I would love to expand this list and my closet even more, lol.
